Terms of use

Last updated 17 August 2026

Plain terms for a free tool. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it — and if the explanation is better than the wording, we will change the wording.

1. Who provides this service

BlurMyPhoto is an independent project run by the BlurMyPhoto team, contactable at hello@blurmyphoto.com. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

2. What the service is

A set of free tools that edit images inside your own web browser: covering regions of a photograph with a solid bar, a pixelation, or a blur, and rewriting an image without its metadata. There is no account, no fee, no usage limit, no watermark, and no paid tier.

3. Your images stay yours

We never receive your images. They are read and edited by your browser and are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. We therefore claim no licence, no ownership, and no right of any kind over them — and we could not exercise one if we wanted to, because we never hold the files. Nothing about your images is stored, logged, or retained anywhere by us.

4. Acceptable use

You must have the right to edit and to publish the images you process. Do not use this site to conceal or alter evidence, to facilitate fraud or impersonation, to remove a lawfully required marking, or to do anything else unlawful where you are.

We have no technical means to detect or prevent any of this, since we never see what you are working on. The obligation is yours.

5. No warranty — and the specific limits worth reading

The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. Beyond the usual formula, there are particular limitations we would rather state plainly than bury:

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this free service, including any consequence of publishing an image you processed here. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

7. Advertising and affiliate links

The site is funded by advertising. Advertising is not yet running; when it starts, it will be Google AdSense, and the privacy policy will be updated on the day it goes live.

Some future articles may contain affiliate links, where we earn a commission if you buy something. Where that happens it will be disclosed in plain words within the article itself, above the link — not only here. An affiliate relationship never changes what we recommend, and we will not recommend something we would not otherwise have written about.

8. Guides are not legal advice

Articles and guides on this site explain law and regulation in plain terms for a general audience. They are not legal advice, they may be out of date, and they cannot account for your situation. Take proper advice for anything that matters.

9. Third-party components

This site uses the following third-party software, under their own licences:

We deliberately use no component under a non-commercial licence.

10. Changes, and governing law

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.

These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator of the site is established, and nothing here removes any mandatory protection available to you as a consumer under the law of your own country of residence.

11. Contact
